Presidential Inauguration - June 30, 2010

I witnessed my first live Presidential inauguration this morning, June 30, 2010. A little over half a million Filipinos joined President Benigno C. Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar C. Binay in their first-ever public audience as the highest and second-highest leaders of the country.

Music filled the inauguration program as Apo Hiking Society, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Christian Bautista, The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Charice Pempengco, Noel Cabangon, and others gave their share of music to serenade the new President and Vice President.

My dad and I planned to go to Quirino Grandstand to witness this historic event. Travel to the venue was a breeze. I was afraid that traffic would be terrible. Fortunately, the only traffic we experienced on the way to the venue was in Lagusnilad because the Burgos side of the Manila City Hall was closed to traffic. Thank God it was a holiday.

I just hope he wasn't over-promising this morning. Definitely the "wang-wangs" will be difficult to eliminate, unless we do an embargo of such products. :)

Notable was the first-ever oath-taking of the Filipino people as we embark on a new journey as a nation. I also hope the half-million people who pledged change and commitment fulfill their oaths faithfully.

FIFA 2010

Ten reasons why the Philippines should start building its Football program:

10. Football does not need too much height. We won't be noticed for our "shortcomings." :)

9. It doesn't need a P20 million budget for a covered court with a ring. All it needs are two pairs of MMDA cones.

8. Filipinos are used to soaking up the sun even in the hottest of seasons.

7. We will put to good use the rice fields during the El NiƱo season.

6. Those other countries that were former Portuguese and Spanish colonies are good at it!

5. Snatchers and pickpockets will have other venues for maximizing their talent.

4. We'll value further the thought that it takes real hard work to reach you "GOAL."

3. We'll put to good use those knee high socks.

2. We'll get to know David Beckham not only as Posh spice's husband.

1. Let's face it. Unless we import Shaq DNA, we won't get far in basketball!

The World Cup 2010 season is almost over! It was full of surprises and twists, but overall, it once again showed that Football is indeed the world's national sport. I always pray that we finally see the light in the sport and start developing young football players. We definitely have the edge on this one!

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Tagalog??

It is fun to see foreigners trying to learn the Filipino language. Not many try to learn the language, some Filipinos even try to not speak about it anymore.

In this video, Rafe Bartholomew wrote about one of Filipinos' favorite pastimes, playing basketball and he is inviting people to come to his reading session in FILIPINO. :)

Magaling!

Good Job, Rafe.

It's sad to see that some Filipinos deny they are Filipinos, and even denounce their citizenship, and their language.

Love the language. Love the culture; Be proud to be a Filipino...

Thanks to Tac for sending this link!

Now, where can I buy his book, Pacific Rims? :)

Juaqui and Anne - May 9, 2010

Congratulations to Coach Juaqui and Anne for their beautiful wedding held last May 9, 2010. :) Thanks for the invite guys! I was fortunate to witness their bond, whose relationship spanned a good 10 years (or more? :)) before finally deciding to tie the knot. Good luck on you new journey guys!

Too bad it was the eve of elections! Thanks to the liquor ban, we ended up going home sober. What's worse is that it was a Sunday and the only open resto in Tagaytay at 11pm is Mcdonald's! We just had to cap the evening with coffee/hot choco and french fries. Wow! :)

Salamat kay Bhonny sa laugh trip na ito. :)
