NBA 2015
Since moving to DC I have had the privilege to watch the Washington Wizards play against my favorite team the San Antonio Spurs. This year I have once again had that same privilege thanks to some "sponsors." This year was different. Not only were the Spurs not leading by double-digit, but they were also trailing the Wizards the entire game. This was also the first time since 2005 that the Wizards were able to defeat the Spurs at home. I'm a big Surs fan but this time I was sort of rooting for the home team so I didn't feel bad watching my Spurs losing to the Wizards.

We are Redskins fans by proximity. I got acquainted and fascinated by the sport upon moving to the District. 2 Superbowl halftimes after, I decided we should support the city we're in.

DC Rising: Washington Wizards in the NBA Playoffs 2014
Being a big basketball fan, I have dreamed of watching the big games in basketball. In 2011, I was fortunate to have watched my favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs, live in the Verizon Center, home of the Washington Wizards. It was also my first-ever experience to watch a live National Basketball Association game!
Three years hence, I was again fortunate to have watched the home team get to the playoffs for the first time since 2008! Their second-round series was against the Eastern Conference's # 1 team, the Indiana Pacers. Though they lost the series, They were fortunate to take the series to 6 games. I was lucky to purchase game 3 tickets. This will add another milestone to my NBA-spectatorship: Playoffs baby!!!
Thanks to the powerful superzoom of my friend's 18-200mm Nikkor lens, I was able to capture some moments.

Wizards starting lineup: Wall, Beal, Ariza, Nene, Gortat. All but Trevor Ariza will be back for 2014-15 season.
John Wall has improved tremendously this season. He was also slam dunk champion in this year's NBA All-Star Game
I hope they repeat last year's playoff run this coming season. With the addition of veteran forward Paul Pierce, looks like DC fans are in for a treat!

Hail to the Redskins! Maybe Next Year...
The Redskins, plagued by a flurry of controversies, injuries and sheer bad luck, is now officially out of the playoff race with a 3-10 win-loss record as of this writing. They will be playing their last three games of 2013-14 season against the Falcons, Cowboys, and Giants. I was privileged to be able to watch football at the Fedex Field for the first time today, as they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 45-10. Here's a tribute photo for the Redskins' sub-par season. Better luck next year, Skins!

Superbowl XLV - 6 February 2010
One must-see event here is the much-awaited Super Bowl event. Now on its 45th season, the Super Bowl has been the most watched sport and TV event in the US. The sport makes Americans stay home, makes advertisers spend millions more to have a slot, makes all shows get a least a word "Super Bowl" into their scripts.
For someone who has come from a country that appreciates only one team sport, basketball, I get fascinated with Americans' love for all sports, and the great American sport, their favorite. The Super Bowl's effect on roads, media and groceries, is very much similar to our craziness over Manny Pacquiao's titles fights.
Amidst the Super Bowl mania, I am proud to say that one Filipino stood in the middle of the capacity crowd, entertaining hundreds of thousands in the field, and hundreds of millions watching from around the world. The Black Eyed Peas performed during the Super Bowl half time show, which gave the crowd the needed boost of energy and excitement! Apl de Ap, we Filipinos are so proud of you! :) Mabuhay ka!
Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers fans for an entertaining Super Bowl XLV! Congrats also to the Pittsburgh Steelers for making it this far. Too bad, they came a bit short in getting the Lombardi trophy.
Now, I have to explain a bit further to my wife how American Football works...
